A Secret Menu Key in the Google Pixel 2 and 2XL turns out to be a Bug

Google has launched its most anticipated smartphones, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL earlier this month. We have seen more information about the device specs details so far. Luckily, the shipping for both the device has also been started. Now, the Android Police has spotted out the hidden menu button in the smartphones and later it was confirmed by CNET.

The Location of the Hidden Button

The Android user might remember a separate menu button located on the navigation bar. Like this, the Pixel smartphones has got a hidden menu key on the lower right side of the navigation bar. You can see this secret menu next to the recent apps button. Yet, the Google consider this as a bug.

Why is it considered as a bug?

You can try the function of the secret key in Pixel smartphones, open Settings and tap the blank area on the lower right corner of the navigation bar. If you press the correct spot where the secret menu is located, then the popup menu will appear with a vibration. However, this hidden menu button works well on the Google Chrome, with a single tap, occasionally it needs a double-tap. Sometimes, it fails to works. To be clear, it works almost on all apps made by Google and sometime, it fails to respond.

What does Google say about the secret menu?

A spokesperson from Google confirmed to CNET that this hidden menu button is not a feature, it is a bug. Google also reveals that it will soon fix the bug in the secret button which might happen in a next OTA update. This shows that the bug will disappear soon.

The secret menu key is not there in the original Pixel smartphone, it works only in the newly launched Pixel 2 smartphones. Well, Google considers this as a bug, which makes us think, whether the upcoming device will have this hidden menu feature.
